14 February Google's Valentine's Day Doodle. So today Google revealed their new Doodle for the day. One that is quite different than normal Doodle's. In fact, it's not even an image. It's a small short 1 minute animation on the highs and lows of young love. While at the same time illustrating that Google cannot solve all problems. If you have not seen the video I embedded it below from YouTube. Take a look and let us know your thoughts on it.
According to TechCrunch it was animated by Michael Lipman, an animator whose past works include Happy Tree Friends, and who was hired by the Doodle team to turn their creative work into a full-length animation. They contacted him mid-January to work on the project. When usually he requires 9 or 10 weeks to finish anything. But hey, when Google calls you drop everything you are doing right? The song in the video is Tony Bennett's cover of "Cold, Cold Heart", because supposedly a fan of the Doodles and wanted to be involved. Long form and interactive Doodle's have come and gone before. But nothing as long as a full minute. Lipman says he hopes Google does more like this in the future. Personally I do too, especially the Doodle they made for the 30th anniversary of Pacman. They had an interactive Pacman game you could play on Google's home page. Let us know what you think of the Animated Doodle and have a great Valentine's Day!
